Alabama A&M head women’s basketball coach Dawn Thornton will be among the honorees to receive the distinguished award given out by the SWAC Game ChangeHer Award Committee and the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Coach Thornton’s leadership, commitment to excellence, and undeniable positive impact will be honored during the SWAC Game ChangeHer Awards brunch, to be held in Atlanta, GA, on Thursday, March 12.
In just her second season at AAMU, Coach Thornton has put the Lady Bulldogs on the path to the program’s first-ever SWAC regular season crown, along the way leading the team to a program-best 14-game winning streak. Should the Lady Bulldogs reach the 20-win plateau, it will mark the first time in the Division I era that the program has achieved the feat in back-to-back seasons.
In her two seasons at Alabama A&M, Coach Thornton is 39-20 and 18-5 within the confines of Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
